Founded in 1994, CPR International has developed a specialized retained search practice dedicated to serving the medical technology industry worldwide. Our firm is managed by professionals with former Healthcare industry Senior-Executive operating or recruitment experience. This industry-specific experience enhances our understanding of our clients’ operational priorities and marketplace challenges. We have conducted hundreds of senior level search assignments both domestically and internationally over the past 30 years. CPR International is devoted to providing innovative executive search solutions for our clients’ senior management needs.
As a dedicated, focused retained search firm, we specialize only in the healthcare and medical technology industries. Our multi-discipline contemporary search activity includes Spine/Orthopedics, Neurosurgery, Biologics, Minimally Invasive Surgery, Wound Management, Cardiology/Cardiovascular Surgery, Women’s Health, General Surgery, Urology, Ophthalmology, and Hospital Services segments of the industry.
Because of our commitment to a select number of healthcare clients, our practice is not encumbered by extensive client off-limit restrictions attributed to most large multinational search firms. Therefore, we are capable of sourcing a much wider candidate population.
Our Managing Partners have significant former healthcare/medical device industry senior executive experience and participate fully in each search assignment. Unlike the large, multinational search firms, we personally contact the prospective candidates rather than source the market through junior research staff. This executive-to-executive approach allows us to quickly survey entire industry segments to attract qualified candidates who fit the position specifications. This approach may be more demanding on us personally, but our clients appreciate both the quality and the speed at which we perform.
We literally begin each exclusive search with a “clean sheet of paper”. We co-develop the Position Description and Target List with you to ensure that we are searching for the right candidate profile and that we are sourcing the correct companies without endangering synergistic relationships that you may have established. This position description, once fully developed and approved, will serve as the blueprint for our search activity on your behalf.
At the conclusion of the first 30 days of engagement, we prepare and deliver a Progress Report, which outlines the backgrounds and experience of the candidates we have identified during the course of our research (usually 10 to 12 qualified candidates for typical assignments). During this Progress Meeting we review each candidate’s background and assist you with the selection of the most suitable candidates for further interview and referencing investigation. At this meeting we will submit a candidate skills matrix, which will quantify comparative relevant experience as required by the position specifications. Our clients tell us this diagnostic tool is extremely valuable in condensing the lengthy candidate list and resumes to a manageable format.
After the initial selection of qualified candidates has been made, we interview via Skype or in person each candidate and compile a Finalist Report, which describes in detail our findings and conclusions based upon our interview and confidential reference investigation. In conjunction with the submission of the Finalist Report, CPR International recommends certain finalist candidates for you to interview. Upon completion of the final interview and candidate selection process, we assist you with the sensitive offer/acceptance negotiations and final employment offer. We continue, as needed, with the on-boarding process to preclude the occurrence of counter-offers, relocation challenges, etc.
The resources we utilize to complete the search include an initial broadcast (Client confidential if required) to our robust network of more than 5,000 medical device senior executives seeking recommendations. In addition, we compile a target list of medical technology companies and potential candidates nationally and within commuting distance to the desired location. Our Managing Directors then reach out to candidates personally to gain interest or seek recommendations.
At the same time, we survey medical device companies with similar leadership requirements to ensure that the very best candidates the market will yield are contacted and screened. By the end of the 30-day period, we will have communicated with hundreds of senior level executives, in addition to the thousands of initial contacts. Please note that our research team assists with the generation of the company and candidate target list, but the Managing Directors make the executive-to-executive contact. This is in distinct contrast to many large search organizations whose research departments conduct much of the initial candidate contact. Our clients tell us that this hands-on approach yields a better caliber candidate pool.
We typically generate 10 to 12 qualified candidates within 30 days of engagement. All candidates are interviewed and evaluated by our seasoned senior management team, providing concise, accurate candidate evaluations. Additionally, background/reference investigations are conducted by our Senior Partners, producing more accurate assessments. Our partners participate in the sensitive offer acceptance negotiation process, ensuring successful search outcomes.
Most search assignments are completed within 60-70 days depending upon client interview availability.
